The Texas Draft Horse and Mule Association (TDHMA) was founded in 1983.  TDHMA is organized as a non-profit organization.  The purpose of the association is to promote breeding, developing, training, marketing and use of draft horses and mules.   The TDHMA sponsors and conducts annual draft horse and mule exhibitions, shows, and other act

The Texas Draft Horse and Mule Association (TDHMA) was founded in 1983.  TDHMA is organized as a non-profit organization.  The purpose of the association is to promote breeding, developing, training, marketing and use of draft horses and mules.   The TDHMA sponsors and conducts annual draft horse and mule exhibitions, shows, and other activities in which teamsters can participate with draft horses and mules.  The TDHMA also sponsors and conducts educational seminars, clinics and short courses on the breeding management, care, training and use of draft horses and mules.  The TDHMA encourages young people and its members to participate in any wholesome activity relating to draft animals.  The association also supports and encourages participation in civic activities and demonstrations such as parades, shows and field days. 

Draft Breeds

 Draft horses and mules are defined as mature animals at least 14.2 hands or 58 inches tall and of the recognized draft breeds.   American Cream, Belgians, Clydesdales, Percherons, Shires and Suffolks are the recognized draft breeds of modern day.

 The Texas Draft Horse and Mule Association welcomes anyone with an interest in draft horses and mules.  Our membership runs for the calendar year.  A single membership is $30 per year and a family membership is $50 per year.  Download your membership form from our Contact Us page.  The TDHMA publishes and distributes to its members a qua
